As a little girl Mairead would play this game with great intensity. She would pick one petal off at a time chanting the phrase  "He loves me," followed by  "He loves me not." The aim of the game was to find out if her crush really did love her!  Sometimes,  Mairead would have to pick two petals together to make sure that the last petal was the essential 'he loves me'!
